| Trouble was, that kid didn't get any attention |
Some of my best memories of time spent with Jenny are from the little "ice cube" house (as it was always imprinted in my mind) out in Waterville. During Mary Carol's first summer, I came over pretty regularly to babysit. I was probably 15-16, and so excited to be taking care of a brand-new MC.
Aside from the great memories I have with Mary Carol, I also look back fondly on that time because of how easy it was to feel at home in Jenny's home. The time we spent chatting in the blue kitchen, ordering lunch from Chowders N' Moor (that white chicken chili!), and discussing whatever book I was reading while Mary Carol napped upstairs, is time I remember well.
Jenny's style of hospitality is not to simply invite others into her space, but to reach out a hand and meet them halfway. Her natural curiosity is infectious, and she consistently demonstrates an interest in and empathy for other people's thoughts and feelings. As a result, it's hard not to feel at home when you are with her.
Jenny, thank you for your hospitality, in every sense of the word. Have a very happy birthday-- looking forward to many more!
Love from,
Maggie
